George F. Ackerson, 91, of Middletown died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY.
George was born September 19, 1920 in Goshen, NY, the son of George A. and Jessie J. (Decker) Ackerson.
He served in the Army during World War II, was a Laborer for the Orange County Highway Dept., Goshen, NY and a member of the Dikeman Engine and Hose Company, Goshen.
George was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Luella Cochrane and Beatrice Wygant, and his long time companion, Irene. He is survived by Irene's 7 children inclusive of caregivers, Marjorie Davenport and Alice Dwyer; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 18 from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the Funeral Service at 10:00 am in the funeral home
with the Reverend David Kingsley officiating.
Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in George's name to a charity of ones choice.
