John E. Reyle, 91, of Goshen, formerly of Newburgh, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Glen Arden in Goshen, NY. John, better known as Jack, was born January 23, 1925 in Paterson, NJ, the son of the late Edward Louis and Anita (Renkel) Reyle. Before college, Jack ran his family's soda/ newspaper shop business in Fairlawn, NJ and volunteered as a firefighter in Radburn, NJ. He started college at Duke University and graduated in 1949, after serving in the US Navy during World War II. At Duke, he was a Beta Theta Pi and played varsity baseball as shortstop. He played semi pro baseball for the Durham, NC Transportation Co. And Chevrolet Red Socks of Paterson, NJ. He was a card salesman for Gibson Greeting Cards and member of the National Junior Sales Executive Club. He joined the Ancient City Free Masons in Albany, NY Lodge 460. After 8 years, he started his career as a math and business teacher, retiring after 25 years from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, Newburgh, NY as a guidance counselor. He coached little league baseball in the Pony and Bronco leagues in the town of Newburgh. He served all four offices in the Newburgh Football Booster Club. He was a former treasurer of the Newburgh Teacher's Association and long term member. He was President and long term director of the Hudson Heritage Federal Credit Union; member of the Town of Newburgh Republican Committee ( serving as election inspectors ); and member of the American Legion ( Town of Newburgh) . He was a long term member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Newburgh, New York and served as Deacon and Elder. Jack is survived by his wife: Patricia S. Reyle of Goshen (formerly Newburgh, NY); their children, Bonnie Reyle Burchell and her husband V. Howard of York, PA, Bruce E. Reyle of Alexandria, VA and James W. Reyle and his wife Linda Rocco Reyle of Montague, NJ; six grandchildren, Steele A. Burchell, Jessica B. Donaho, Kyle T. Reyle, Jamie Reyle, JennyLynn Carney, and Jaclyn Travers; seven great grandchildren, Skylynn Daughenbaugh, James B. Hamilton, Barrett Donaho, Landon Carney, Logan Carney, Carson Reyle, and Payton Reyle He was predeceased by his parents; brother Bruce W. Reyle and sisters, Elizabeth Weaver and Beverly Noon Visitation will be Sunday, June 26 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with a prayer service beginning at 4 pm with the Reverend J. Edward Louis and Reverend Glen Henderiks Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ on Monday, June 27 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to Wounded Warriors Project, 470 Fashion Ave Rm 410, New York, NY 10018; or Calvary Presbyterian Church, 120 South St., Newburgh, NY 12550; or Glen Arden Foundation, 214 Harriman Dr., Goshen, NY 10924.
