Ewoud Dykshoorn Queensbury, NY (formerly of Middletown, NY) Ewoud Dykshoorn, 91, a recent resident of Queensbury but a long time resident of Middletown, NY, went to be with the Lord February 27, 2017 after a short illness. Born April 23, 1925 in Maasland, the Netherlands, he was the son of Ewoud Dijkshoorn and Jaapje Keijzer Dijkshoorn. He served in the Royal Netherlands Army and worked in Indonesia for several years. He married Maria Petronella Valk in 1954 and they immigrated to the United States in 1959. They settled in Middletown, where he worked for many years as a landscaper for New Vernon Florist, and he had a gift for making things grow. He was a faithful member of Goshen Christian Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon, elder, and catechism teacher. He had a deep faith in His Lord Jesus Christ, and loved to study the Bible. Ewoud was predeceased by his wife Maria, and by brothers Martin and Jacob. He is survived by his children Edward (Sandy) of Odessa, NY; Jan (Patty) of Douglas, MA; Paul (Kathy) of Alliance OH; Jacqueline (David) Fenton of Livonia, NY; and Peter (Sharon) of Queensbury, NY; grandchildren Kim (Matt) Garippa, Greg (Tara) Dykshoorn, Kayla (Matt) Kelly, Steven Dykshoorn, Thomas (Tris) Dykshoorn, Elizabeth (Joe) Weiss, John Mark Dykshoorn, Nathan Dykshoorn, Bethany (Jake) Davis, Ryan Dykshoorn, Laura and Kathleen Fenton, Arianna, Jared, Julia, and Daniel Dykshoorn; and great-grandchildren Lilli, Hudson, Jackson, and Kathryn. He is also survived by brothers Abraham and Arie, and sisters Wilhelmina and Anna, all of the Netherlands, in addition to many nieces and nephews. Ewoud's family would like to thank the staff of Glens Falls Hospital for their compassionate care. Friends may call on Ewoud's family on Thursday, March 2 from 7-9 pm at Goshen Christian Reformed Church, 2440 State Route 17A, Goshen NY. Funeral services will be held there Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Samuel Sutter officiating. Burial will be at Wallkill Cemetery in Phillipsburg, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goshen Christian Reformed Church's building expansion fund. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
