Obituary of Svein R. Salte

Svein Reidar Salte, 72, of Goshen, NY, succumbed to brain cancer at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Svein was born April 26, 1945 in Klepp, Norway. He lived in Bryne, Norway until the age of 16, when he moved to New York and became a carpenter. Svein loved his job and worked as a carpenter for over 50 years. He also volunteered for GOVAC for over 20 years and loved golfing, hunting in the Adirondacks and spending time telling jokes with family and friends in his free time. Svein is survived by his wife Solvi of over 50 years; his two sons, Svein (Allison) Salte, Erik (Ashley) Salte, and daughter Elisebeth (Hernan Ramirez) Salte; two sisters, Lilly Dusenberry and Annbjorg Farstad; eight grandchildren; as well as many other relatives in America and Norway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rangvald Salte and Lise Jerstad; his sister, Jolaug Svendsen; and his daughter, Anita Salte. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen with the Funeral Service in the funeral home at 6:30 pm with Rev. Thomas Liotta. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
