Obituary of Tillie Gottlieb Rosenberg

Please share a memory of Tillie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tillie Haber Gottlieb Rosenberg was born on June 16, 1918 to Molly (Sherman) and Sam Haber. She was raised in Coney Island, NY and later moved to the Lower East Side of Manhatten. There she met the love of her life, Jacob (Jack) Gottlieb whom she married in 1937. Tillie died of natural causes on Jan. 1, 2007 in Van Nuys. CA. Tillie and Jack raised three daughters in the Bronx, where they lived a quiet unremarkable life. Jack was an iron worker and Tillie was a stay at home mom. In 1963 Tillies beloved sister Dotty suddenly died, leaving her 14 year old son Steven an orphan. Tillie and Jack immediately took him in and raised him as their own. The years passed, the older daughters got married and had children of their own. Tillie went to work at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. where she became a Group Health Claims Supervisor. In 1971 Jack passed away. Two years later, Tillie met and married Charlie Rosenberg. Soon her youngest daughter Sharon married and had children. Tillie and Charlie moved to sunny California to escape the New York winter weather. There they enjoyed 13 years of married life until Charlie passed away in 1986. Tillie had the great pleasure of attending her grand daughter Jessicas wedding in Feb. 2005. She looked very beautiful walking down the aisle on the arms of her two grandsons. Tillie was pre-deceased by her brothers, Max, Morris and Ben Haber, and her sister Dotty Weiss. She is survived by daughters Marian Geller of Oak Park, CA, Marlene Epstein and her husband Mike of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sharon Ball and husband Rich of Slate Hill, NY and nephew Steve Weiss and wife Kathleen of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Daren Epstein, Jodie Geller and Jessica Epstein Vega of CA as well as Jason and Allison Ball of Slate Hill, NY. A funeral Service, led by Rabbi Rebecca Shinder will be held in the sanctuary of Temple Beth Shalom, 13 Roosevelt Ave., Florida, NY on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Tillie loved the Temple, which she attended with her daughter Sharon and family when she was in NY. She will be buried in Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery immediately following the service. Arrangements are being made by the Donovan Funeral Home, Goshen, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to Temple Beth Shalom or to a charity of your choice.
