Jean R. Rimbach, 93, long time Goshen resident, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 with her loving daughters at her side at Garnet Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Jean was born July 11, 1928 in Bronx, NY; the daughter of Alfonzo and Lucy Di Franco. Jean worked at Kwik Stop in Goshen for 40 years, a familiar face to many in the village who were treated to her quick-wit and friendly sarcasm. Long before Jean became an early-morning icon at the store and settled into her beloved home on Crescent Drive, she had a rich and varied life. As a young women she worked in post war Japan under General Douglas MacArthur, arriving by boat the day World War II ended. Later she worked as a manager for Bell Telephone, first in Miami, Fl., and later in New York City. Over the years she gave her time to many local organizations, including shopping for Christmas gifts for foster children and overseeing a scholarship fund for social services. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Ellen Bastidas and husband Robert of Sugar Loaf and Cindy Lucy Wantroba and husband Steven of Chester, her two cherished grandsons Thomas and Daniel Madden, brother-in-law Donald Rimbach and wife Marilyn and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Joseph Rimbach who died in 1991 and her beloved friend Evelyn Todora who passed away last year. Visitation will be Monday, June 20 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate her life will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY.
