Deepest condolences for your loss. I've had the pleasure along with my wife Amanda and twin brother Chris to be friends with josh. I remember me and him and my brother drawing in our black books till 2:00 in the morning and skating the next day. A talented artist he was and learned a lot from him as did he. All we can do is remember the great times and let his spirit shine upon us.

Joe and Theo,
My heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. I can not imagine the pain or find the words that would adequately convey my feelings at this time of grief. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Two years ago my son Matt had a break with reality. At first we thought it was just a good kid that is doing bad things. Fortunately we were able to have it diagnosed as schizophrenia and he has come back from some very dark places. Mental illness is not talked about enough and your courage to talk about it is to be appalled. May the memories of Josh be what sustains you. You have overcome other adversity and though this will never be erased from your conscious the strength of your character will see you through. God bless you. Ken Skyer

As Executive Director of NAMI Sullivan County, NY, I know only too well the devastation of mental illness and the effect it can have not only on the person with the diagnosis but on the entire family. The brain is an organ of the body like any other, and susceptible to illness - mental illness is as real a physical illness as any other. What a crime to have stigma heaped onto those who suffer in addition to cruel symptoms.
I've often described NAMI as an extended family. My heartfelt condolences to Joshua's family and friends. May his memory be a blessing...
