Don was a one of a kind guy, very inspirational type of person always looking to help the youth. I had many chats with him while I was a teenager and older and learned many things from him. He remained friends with "Oldtimer" Ted Weheinger who was my next door neighbor and would watch them go back and forth. Gonna miss Don....my condolences to his family.

My condolences to the entire Dillenbeck family. Mr. Dillenbeck made such an impact on my life. He knew how much I wanted to attend college, but the family's finances did not permit me to attend. I chose to join the USMC after graduation in 1972. When we discussed my future endeavors, he must have seen the disappointment in my face, but he looked at me, with that matter-of-fact tone that he had, and said you will Excell in anything you do. You can't fail. He was such an inspiration

Don and Marlene were the quintessential hometown neighbors. They were always there to lend a helping hand, or more often, to give advise to the younger generation. My prayers go out to Marlene and the Dillenbeck family.

Mr. Dillenbeck was my history teacher when I was in 7th & 8th grade. After graduation from CHS in 1964 I returned and served as his secretary while he was guidance counselor. He was a joy to work with and he made coming to work everyday a pleasure. He was a kind and considerate man who made the world a much better place. He will be truly missed and I shall always remember him with a smile!.

So sad to see that Don has passed. Many memories involving him. We played high school baseball together in Goshen. Don was a very good pitcher with me at 3rd base. Good fielder, good hitter, but a weak arm. In later years he told me he felt like ducking every time I threw to first. He said I should have tossed him the ball and let him throw it on to first. .Whenever I biked on Murray Ave. and saw him sitting out front I'd stop by for some memories and laughs. Don had a special "Goshen Character" and he will be missed by those who knew him. Sad to say we are losing an entire generation....God Bless

Don and I worked shoulder to shoulder for about 25 years. Every Christmas, he would bring his presents into the teachers’ lounge for me to wrap; some were also for him. When we were in the original h.s., we would often stop in Friday after school for an unwind drink. He was one in a million

Mr. Dillenbeck was truly one of a kind. He was so committed to his students and cared deeply about their advancement. I have told this story so many times over the years — I had applied early decision to Cornell and did not get in. I was devastated. Mr. Dillenbeck got on the phone right away with the admissions office and questioned their decision. Based on this conversation he then gave me guidance on how to modify my application for regular admission. With this gesture, Mr. Dillenbeck put me on the path to Cornell, to an MBA and to a successful career in pharmaceutical marketing reaching the very top. I have no doubt he influenced many other students in this same way. Hoping he is off to his next great adventure! Kathleen Dowd CHS class of ‘83.
