ELIZABETH "BETTY" MURRAY CAREY
GOSHEN, NEW YORK
Elizabeth "Betty" Murray Carey, 87, of Goshen died, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Arden Hill Campus, Goshen, NY.
She was born February 21, 1922, in Greycourt, NY, the daughter of the late Harry L. Murray Sr. and the late Lillian (DiffiIy) Murray. She was the widow of Robert F. Carey, Sr.
Elizabeth served as Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War II, she was retired from the Goshen Central School District and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Goshen, NY.; member of the American Legion Orange Blossom Post #1167-Chester, NY and also an avid member of the Chester Historical Society.
Elizabeth is survived by her; daughters, Peggy Broccoli and husband Anthony of Middletown, Susan Brosnan and husband Dan of New Hampton and Elizabeth Filipowski and husband Tab of Warwick; son, Robert F. Carey, Jr. and wife Julie of Rye Brook, NY; brothers, Harry L. Murray, Jr. and wife Rosemary of Chester, and William J. Murray of Chester; sisters, Jean Murphy and husband Gabbett of Goshen, Mary Kay Campbell and husband Roger of Albuquerque, NM and Barbara Karl of Monroe, NY; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly and Alyssa Broccoli; Dan, Sarah and Julianne Brosnan; Robert III and Sophia Carey; Tyler and Connor Filipowski; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and 3 brothers, Robert J., James and John Murray
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 24, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen.
Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Chester, NY.
