Richard Vega, age 94, of The Villages, FL entered into rest Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Richard was born May 22, 1930 in the Bronx, New York. He is the son of the late Carlos and the late Regina (Rios) Vega. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Iris, dear son Peter, brother Ray, and grandson Justin Robinson. He is survived by his brother Charlie and sister Olga. Sons; Richard (Debra), Danny, Gary, and daughter-in-law Denise. Grandchildren; Richard (Mechel), Christine (Tony), Alexis (Lorenzo). Great-Grandchildren; Justin, Liam, Camden, Evelyn, and Kara. He will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was employed by The Manhattan Transit Authority, in New York, as a Bus Driver and later represented the union as Union Chairman. Upon retiring from MTA, he was employed by Disney World as a Security Officer with the K-9 unit. Serving in the Korean War, Richard was a Sergeant with the United States Army and a combat veteran. Prior to his passing, he was promoted to the rank of a Staff Sergeant. Upon return from Korea, he served in the Army National Guard. Richard proudly volunteered for the Monroe New York Volunteer Fire Department. Richard deeply loved and cared for his family and his many loyal friends and will be sorely missed by all. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3 from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Graveside Service to Celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY.
