ARTHUR E. WALSH August 23, 1939 - May 31, 2010 Goshen, NY Arthur Ernest Walsh, 70, of Goshen, NY, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Orange County Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Art was born to the late Ernest and Estelle Walsh in New Brunswick, Canada, on August 23, 1939. He moved to Bangor, ME with his family as a young boy and grew up there, graduating from John Bapst Memorial High School in 1957. He married Barbara Rand, of Old Town, ME, started a family and began a career as a salesman with the National Cash Register Corp. Art enjoyed great success during his 15 years with NCR, moving to Warwick, RI and later to New Windsor, NY as he took on larger roles within the company. Along the way, he mentored many who would later go on to achieve success on their own. This was one of Art's most satisfying achievements. Always looking for an opportunity or challenge, Art sought out a new career in the emerging telecommunications industry, enjoying success with several companies and ultimately achieving his personal dream of owning and running his own business - Independent Telecommunications Corp. of Newburgh, NY. His success throughout his career was a reflection of his honesty, integrity, loyalty, gift for connecting with people and dedication to hard work. Art was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, coach, and friend. He was completely devoted to his wife, three sons and their families. He enjoyed the outdoors, working with his hands, a good fire in the fireplace, playing the guitar, singing songs, harness racing, sports of all kinds, flowers, cooking, red wine, art, history, the company of others, storytelling, hunting and fishing. He showed great strength, determination, and optimism throughout life that continued through his long illness. He loved people - young and old. They loved him in return and he will be dearly missed by many. Art was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1106 of Goshen. He served on the Village of Goshen Planning Board and was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include Barbara (Rand) Walsh, devoted wife of 51 years; three loving sons and daughters-in-law Stephen Walsh and wife, Carol, of Wethersfield, CT, David Walsh and wife, Gia, of Bronxville, NY, and William Walsh and wife, Nita, of Chatham, NJ; grandchildren Matthew, Brian, Andrew, Stephen, Veronica, John, Laura, and Thomas; sisters Hazel Gagnon of Montreal, Canada, Kathleen O'Hara of Brewer, ME, Edith Stewart of Bangor, ME, Phyllis Green and husband, Carl, of Calabash, NC; brother Paul Walsh and wife, Celeste, of Newmarket, NH; sister-in-law Hazel Walsh, Bucksport, ME; brother-in-law Raymond Sauriol, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, and many nieces and nephews.
