I've met only to few people so full of life as Tommy.
I met him 32 years ago and felt that I knew him forever.
You were always welcome whenever you popped in with him
He love is plants and garden, fruit trees.
Tommy loved picking on his Mom and she loved it.
Aunt Florence was so proud one Christmas she made Rum balls and told us it only took 3 ingredients. Tommy with his quick wit told her she left out 2 of them. You can figure which 2.
Tom as Billy Joel said "Only the Good Die Young" .
Gone way to soon.
Have fun playing poker.
Love you Tommy.

Tom! As with all my family, the memories are many. I will go back in time some for one that comes to mind time and again. The first time I went deer hunting with Tom was while I was still in school. We drove upstate, Sullivan County, to a place Tom called Cougar Mountain, not sure if that was the official name. We parked on a dirt road and walked into the woods. It was a hike up the mountain, and we hadn't seen a thing, we would sit a bit, and hike some more. I have to say, I never was much of a hunter. I liked sitting out there, but most often fell asleep. Anyway, I was ready to call it a day, and head back down the mountain. It was at that time that Tom said, "It's going to get dark before we make it back to the car, we're going to have to camp here tonight". Mind you, we had no gear with us, my coffee and lunch I packed was long gone and Tom had finished what he had. We proceeded to gather firewood, and we used my Globemaster Bowie knife to cut some evergreen branches to lay on. Darkness fell and it got uncomfortably cold. I was lucky to be wearing Pops old wool hunting coat and overalls, but they were no match for the cold. As I lay closer to the fire, my wool pants ignited and burnt a few holes in them. As we managed to get a few moments of sleep, we were awakened by the roar of a large cat, the fire had died down and it was really dark, and that thing sounded close. Tom fired a shot off and we didn't hear it again. Morning came after about 3 days, ok a few hours, it just seemed long. We hiked back to the road where Toms car was parked, cranked up the heat and thawed out. I chuckle at the thought of it now, as I share this story.

A memory that has come back to me through the years, like a haunting, was when uncle Dick brought home a German shepherd from work. He was kept on back porch. And along comes Tommy....to unleash total chaos. We would all scatter as he would let that dog out into the kitchen! It was a mix of shear terror and giddiness and absolute exhilaration as we leapt onto the big freezer, huddling away from the edge and away from that crazy barking dog looking to rip us apart. And there's Tommy...laughing....being Tommy and why it feels like the perfect memory. I'll miss his sense of humor.

Words cannot express my sadness over your passing. You were a great son, brother, father, cousin and friend. I always enjoyed our visits when I came to Florida. You always had a smile on your face and made me laugh. I will surely see you one day again in Heaven. Love you Tommy, until we meet again. Love, Tammy

Q: How did you meet Thomas?
A: I met him from birth. And was with him most wknds with his daughter and my beloved cousin Danielle up where him and my father lived. My Dad had the fron house and Tom stayed in Cottage in back until his departure to live then take care of Grandma in like 95. But weekend in mall at arcade were always a blast. Or my cousin Dylan and eye having sneaker wars, which was just as it sounds. Tossing sneakers and boots at one another, hey, this was before Nintendo, Us two being at top or bottom and &ncle Tom on other end. Usually until someone got minorly injured. Always great times. Him and his Simpsons tank top. Loved him then. Love him. Now. At least hes in a much better place now. And at peace. God bless the entire Meres and extended family and friends through! these tough times. - Erik Meres

I met Tom here in Ormond Beach, we were both Nam Veterans and had that in common. He was working part time for a landlord doing home maintenance on the property I was renting.
I was always impressed with how hardworking he was and amazed at his skill set, the man could fix anything! No more suffering Tom, I'm sure the good Lord will appreciate your knowledge. Rest in Peace Tom.You are not forgotten. AFA Jim (Rooster)

Uncle Tom, you took me fishing so many times over the years, we didn’t always catch fish but always had fun. Shoe fights on the stairs, fire cracker, pine cone fights , and trips to the arcade you were always there for us. Will remember blasting rock n roll on the car radio and howling at the moon. Got you last!! Rest in peace crazy Tom

Tom was a loyal friend and expert landscaper. He was able to fix anything. He cherished his family and took good care of his mother. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was happy when he wore his bibbed overalls and played the slots. I will miss him greatly.
Lorna West, his good friend.

When the lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. I will always cherish the special bond we shared of life, love and laughter. My mom always said he was a character, no truer words were spoken. I will miss him dearly. Much Love Thomas George.
