August C. Jellema Afton, New York August C. Jellema, age 72, of Afton, NY, died Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. August was born November 18, 1937 in Prospect Park, NJ, the son of the late Tice Jellema and the late Cornelia (nee) Stelpstra Jellema. He was the owner of Jellema Cabinet Co. in Montgomery, NY. A life member of the Montgomery Fire Department, and Middletown Elks Club, member of the Binghamton Shad Club, U.S. Trotting Association, Monticello Horsemens Association; Goshen Historic Track and supporter of the Afton Driving Park. August's passion was the Standard bred horses, he was an animal lover but he lived and breathed horses. He is survived by his loving companion; Georgia Baker of Afton, NY; 3 daughters, Sheila Zylstra and husband Luke of Montgomery, Sandra Atkin and husband Tom of Chester, Susan Jellema of Davis, CA; 2 sons, Steven Jellema and wife Rhonda of Middletown, NY and David Jellema of Bloomingburg, NY; 3 brothers, Clarence Jellema and wife Barbara of Mesa, AZ, Calvin Jellema and wife Frieda of Lehigh Acres, FL and Kenneth Jellema and wife Carol of Walden, NY; his sister, Faith Ralph and husband David of Walden, NY; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his Aunt Emma Jellema of Michigan and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 11:30 - 1:00 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. Graveside Service and burial will follow the visitation in Florida Cemetery, Florida, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in August's name to the North Afton United Methodist Church, P.O.
