Obituary of Maria Dwyer

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our mom, Maria Scotti Dwyer, has embarked on her eternal journey, reunited with her father. Born on February 27th, 1931, in New York City, she was one of six children blessed to Aniello and Restituta Scotti. For the last year of her life, she resided at the Kaplan Hospice Community, where she received compassionate care from her nurses, doctor, aides, and Sr. Anne, exemplifying the power of kindness. Her remarkable career began in 1952 at the New York Marshalls Office, where she met her beloved husband Frank, and they married in 1957. Mom selflessly raised her four children, Melanie, Neil (Georgette), Frank (Donna), and Margaret, instilling in them the values of love and resilience. As a dedicated employee of NY Telephone for 20 years, she passionately assisted customers in the business office, particularly the blind and hearing impaired, forming lasting bonds with many senior customers, retiring in 1989. Her unwavering care and concern for others led her to a part-time position at the Orange County Dept of Social Services, supporting senior citizens, and later, part-time work at First Care Medical in Monroe. Her grandchildren Kevin, Danielle, Brendan, Neil, Ryan, Andreas, Lily, Nicole, and great-grandchildren Luna and Aurora, were blessed to have her as their guiding light, their "Grandma." Her gift to everyone she met was a reflection of her compassionate soul, nurturing not only her family, but countless other children and friends who knew her as Grandma and Mom, inspiring all of us with her unwavering love and generosity. Though her journey was marked by challenges, she faced them with courage and dignity, leaving us with a legacy of beautiful memories and unconditional love. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate her life will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY. Burial will follow in in St Mary's Cemetery, Washingtonville. In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions be made to Kaplan Family Hospice Center of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stoney Brook CT., Newburgh, NY 12550 and The Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
