Mike and my husband Sam LaMontanaro were best of friends for many years. The troopers accepted Sam to be part of their annual golf trip to South Carolina. After we moved down here to North Carolina Mike and Barbara, Sam and I would often get together and go to dinner. Mike and Sam were there for each other true good friends. I kept in touch with him after Sam passed, which was January 2020. Mike and I used to send each other jokes through email. He had a great sense of humor. I’m glad to have known him. May he rest in peace. Now actually I’m sure him and Sam are up there playing golf and having a good time.

Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss. My father was Rodney Brown former NYS Trooper and with Monroe Lumber Co. I know him as Micky and because he knew my dad and brother so well I was always scared if I did anything wrong and he caught me he would go right to them. When he moved to Myrtle Beach we connected and when we had luncheons for those from Monroe Woodbury HS he always came with Barbara. He took all my dad’s old troopers photos and put them on a CD for me. My heart is broken that he is gone as we talked on the phone still. Last time I did talk to him he said guess where I am I said in a hospyand he said no ona cruise in Alaska.

Mickey was my partner at the New York Joint Task Force, in 1971. He was then my neighbor, in Monroe, for a year. The man had some of the funniest jokes I've ever heard. McDuff & McTavish will always be remembered. Soon after we met he took me to lunch at Katz Deli, a few blocks away from our office. I ordered a sandwich with meat and cheese. He stepped in and re-ordered for me. When we sat down he wanted to know what was wrong with me, as the place was kosher. When I admitted to being Catholic and not real familiar with kosher regulations he said, "How can Alan Rose not be Jewish?" I left NYC in 1975 but stayed in touch with Mike until just recently. I'll remember "Super Trooper" forever. One hell of a cop, one hell of a man. I'll miss you Mickey.
