Ronald Noel Paul Napello, 62, of Goshen, NY, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at New York Presbyterian Hospital, NYC. The son of the late Victor Joseph Napello and Helen Louise MacDowell Napello, he was born February 27, 1949 in Cornwall, NY. Ronald was a 1967 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. He completed his education by earning an Associate's Degree at OCCC and a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Business Administration at SUNY at New Paltz. Ronald taught elementary school beginning in the Goshen Central School District and for 35 years in the Vernon Township School District in Vernon, New Jersey, from which he retired in June, 2010. Ronald loved teaching, particularly Science, a course that students looked forward to as he was well-known for teaching through hands-on experiments. He was very proud of his profession and dedicated his life to educating his students. His favorite saying was, "I don't go to work - I go to school." In 2003, he was awarded the State of New Jersey Department of Education Governor's Teacher Recognition Program Certificate of Recognition for being an outstanding teacher in New Jersey public schools and using effective instruction techniques to develop an environment that inspires students, fosters their feeling of self-worth, and encourages their love of learning. Ronald was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church, the Middletown BPOE 1097, Lionel Collectors Club of America and the Train Collectors' Association. He was an avid New York Yankee fan, enjoyed traveling - especially on vintage luxury trains - and was a model railroad enthusiast. Ronald had a soft spot in his heart for animals and loved his kitty "Stormy." Ronald was a loving and dedicated husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dolores Walters Napello at home; sister Geraldine McMurtrie and husband Clarence of Newburgh, NY; sister, Beverly Sharp and husband Sanford of Balmville, NY; brother-in-law, Eugene R. Walters of E. Stroudsburg, PA; sister-in-law, June Bell of New Hampton; sister-in-law, Tina Rowe and husband Gregory Rowe of Goshen, NY; his beloved mother-in-law, Irene Walters of Campbell Hall, NY, and Uncle Benny of Goshen, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and his best friends, William and Sylvia Carlisle, Janet Lyons-Fairbanks and Kevin Fairbanks, and Bob and Ruth Sano. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, February 24 at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven Peiffer officiating.
