Obituary of Martin L. Zeitchick

Martin L. Zeitchick, of Montgomery, NY passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at home. He was 71. Martin was born on November 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Abraham and Goldie Zeitchick. He grew up in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn. Martin was a retired electrical engineer. Martin was also a member of the Hamptonburgh Planning Board. Martin met the love of his life, the late Barbara Lamb Santangelo later in his life. They married in 1995 and together they shared a wonderful life - they worked their property in Montgomery making it their own little Garden of Eden. They enjoyed travelling and their visits to the local restaurants with their friends and family, as well as Sunday dinners with a full dining room of their sons, daughters-in-law and friends. Martin took excellent care of Barbara until she passed away on December 19, 2009. He missed her dearly. Martin and Barbara were involved in the K-9 Band-aiders, taking their dogs to the various local nursing homes to bring joy to the residents. He was also an active member of the Metropolitan Maltese Rescue. He is survived by his stepsons, Christopher Santangelo and his wife, Jennifer of Montgomery, NY; Carlo Santangelo and his wife, Kirsten of Goshen, NY; his brother, Stanley Zeitchick and his wife Carol of Boca Raton, FL; his special grandchildren Landon and Chloe of Montgomery, NY; nephews Mark Zeitchick and Steven Zeitchick of the State of Florida; his niece Randi of Las Vegas, NV; his sister-in-law Patricia Croissant and her husband Bill of Mongaup Valley, NY; and his special friends Bruce Ginsberg and Nancy Gaeta Ginsberg. He is also survived by his faithful companion Ollie, his rescued Maltese who made his life enjoyable. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 11:30 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the Metropolitan Maltese Rescue or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
