Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie VanDunk March 19, 1925 - January 1, 2013 On January 1, 2013, Marjorie lost the long brave battle to live at the age of 87. She joins her husband, the late Olin B. "Jimmy" VanDunk (January 31, 1920 - July 5, 1981) in eternal rest. They were married March 16, 1963 at the Presbyterian Church in Goshen, which Marjorie was a member. She was the eldest child of Theloa Halsey-Green and step-daughter of Frank Green born on March 19, 1925 in Goshen where she lived for many years. During her long life, Marjorie extended her hand to many people. Whether it was a meal, money, or a place to lay your head, Marjorie's generosity was always there. Her door was forever open. As a young woman, she was often hired as domestic help. She worked as Bill Baker's "right hand" up until her responsibilities changed when she married Jimmy to help him raise his seven children. Marjorie leaves behind many people who care for and love her deeply. Brother, Wesley Green and sister, Lucille Burley. Adopted daughter and niece, Sylvia Maxine VanDunk, stepsons, Olin B. "George", Paul, James, Darryl and Guy VanDunk and step daughters, Harriet Anne and Marjorie Lynn "Dodie" A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren survive. Marjorie was predeceased by sisters, Sylvia Baltimore, Grace Mines, Ruth Wyche, Esther Jackson, Veronica Washington, Joyce Williams, and Francine Green and brothers, Leroy, Robert, James and Walter "Mickey" Green; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and step-grandson, Anthony VanDunk. Marjorie's family would like to extend much gratitude to the staff of Middletown Park whose kindness and care made her golden years comfortable, safe, and much longer than expected. Also a special "thank you" to Sylvia Maxine's life-partner Joseph Maffucci and his children Joseph III "JoJo", Lisa Maffucci and Kristine Williams. Cremation will be private and burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery at a later date. Arrangement under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen, NY.
