Obituary of John A. Behler

John A. Behler, 20, of Middletown, died tragically in a car accident Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Goshen, NY. John was born August 14, 1992 in Goshen, NY, the son of John J. Behler and Valerie (Basile) Behler.
John was a student at SUNY Orange, a 2010 Minisink Valley High School graduate and athlete who battled cancer in his senior year. He was a captain of the football team and was a two way starter as running back and was named to the second team 845 all star as an inside linebacker. John played baseball for the school and was a member of the 2008 Section 9 Championship team. He coached CYO Basketball, was a lead counselor for both the Minisink youth football camp and Minisink Varsity Baseball camp and also played for Chester Youth Football. John was an Honors Student and participated in Youth in Government and Varsity Club. He had a passion for music and started his own DJ business and also tutored students.
John will always be remembered for his humor, wit, charm and being known as the ultimate teammate and team player. He had an infectious smile and a contagious laugh. John had a heart of gold and he would think of others before himself. Most of all he loved his family dearly and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by parents, John and Valerie Behler at home; sister, Carolyn Behler at home; grandfather, Anthony Basile of Middletown; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Carolina Basile, John Behler and June Behler; Uncles, James Basile and Joseph Behler.
Visitation will be Monday, February 11 from 2-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 12 at Holy Cross R.C.Church, South Centerville, NY.
Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.
