Obituary of William J. McCafferty

William J. McCafferty Washingtonville, NY William J. McCafferty, 83, of Washingtonville,NY died Monday, March 3, 2014 at home. William was born August 4, 1930 in New York, NY, the son of the late John and Josephine (Molzcyk) McCafferty. He was the widower of Anne Schiraldi McCafferty. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked on building the roadway on the NY State Thruway and Route 17 and also worked as a distributer for Coca-Cola. He retired as Corrections Officer at Down State in Fishkill,NY. Dad was a loving father and grandfather. He was known to his nieces and nephews as Uncle Buddy. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his children, daughter, Karen Ross and husband John of New Hampton, and son, Gary McCafferty and wife Natalia of Washingtonville; 3 grandchildren, Anne Marie and Grayson Ross and Michael McCafferty; his brother, Wallace McCafferty and sister, Aileen Nevins; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, March 7 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc,82 South Church Street,Goshen,NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, March 8 at St. John The Evangelist R.C. Church,71 Murray Ave,Goshen,NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery,Washingtonville,NY.
