Michael "Mike" P. Rooney, 60, died suddenly, Sunday, June 15, 2014 at home in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Michael was a long time Orange County Resident. Michael was born May 5, 1954, the son of the late Thomas Joseph Rooney, Sr. and Margaret Anne (Whalen) Rooney. Michael was self employed for many years as a owner operator and loved being on the road and having his own "office" on wheels. He adored his 2 sons. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had many, many friends. He is survived by his sons, Brian Rooney and Derek Rooney of Middletown, NY; brothers, Bill Rooney of Forest Hill, MD, Tom Rooney and wife, Carol of Walden, John Rooney of Reno, NV, Frank Rooney and wife Tracey of Pompano Beach, FL; sisters, Nancy Ferris of Goshen, Patricia Galippo and husband Rick of Corona, CA and Jane Barkley and husband Patrick of Oakland Park, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, John Ferris. Visitation will be Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen.
