Obituary of Dale E. Wood

Dale E. Wood, 84, of New Hampton, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY.
Dale was born September 18, 1929 in Climax, NY, the son of Andrew and Sarah (Hoteling) Wood.
Dale retired as a Harness Racing Driver Trainer, he was a member of the USTA - United States Trotting Association and NYS Harness Racing. He graduated from NYU, worked as an Electrical Engineer for Sperry Rand, and he also worked on the Polaris Submarine. He was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen.
The family would like to thank the staff on 2 North, the Chemo/Oncology department at ORMC and Dr. Dinsmore and Dr. Eanelli for the care they provided. Also to the Reverend David Kingsley and his wife Mary who were a great comfort to Dale and our family.
Dale is survived by his wife of 58 years, Orra E. Wood at home; 2 daughters, Sandra Wood and husband John Veninger and his daughter, Brittany Veninger of Florida, NY; Amy Wood and fiance, Marc Berardinelli and her two sons, Ian and Jordon Depew of Allentown, PA; 2 sisters, Joyce Copleston and husband Jeremy of Coxsackie, NY and Virginia Longthon of Albany, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Andrew Wood, beloved mother, Sarah Wood, brother, Stanley Wood and his Uncle Grant and Aunt Millie who instilled in Dale his lifelong love for horses.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, 33 Park Pl., Goshen, NY with his Pastor, the Reverend David Kingsley, officiating.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dale's name to the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, 33 Park Place, Goshen, NY 10924.
