Obituary of Charles E. Pierpoint

CHARLES E. PIERPOINT July 16, 1944 - May 9, 2015 Goshen, NY Charlie Pierpoint, a lifelong resident of Goshen, NY died a the Kaplan Residence in Newburgh, NY on Saturday, May 9, 2015. The son of the late George and Doris (Boness) Pierpoint, he was born July 16, 1944 in Goshen, NY. He is survived by his son, Patrick of Wappingers Falls, NY; daughters: Marjorie Sullivan of Ketchikan, AK and Samantha Wannamaker of Kailua, HI; brother, George Pierpoint III and his wife, Ineke of Middletown, NY. In addition, he is survived by his former spouse and cherished friend, Patty Wiley. He was predeceased by his son, Andrew. In addition to his family, Charlie leaves behind an extended family of friends at the Goshen Rotary Club. Charlie was a friend of Bill W and a member of the Miracle group and the Middletown group. He was an active member of the Goshen Rotary Club, serving on the board and also as Past President 1992-93, Paul Harris Fellow. Charlie was a former member of the Goshen Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the "Man of the Year" in 1996. Charlie worked as an electrician after leaving high school; working first for Holland Electric and then forming his own company, Pierpoint Electric in 1985. Charlie faced his disabilities and diagnosis with courage and determination remaining optimistic and dedicated to enjoying life and helping others. Toward the end of his illness, Charlie was pleased to by a resident of the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence and was grateful to the staff who helped him to live there with dignity and respect. He made many friends along his journey and will be greatly missed. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12th at Donovan's Funeral Home, 82 So.
