Obituary of Frank J. Romano

Frank J. Romano, of Goshen, NY, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Orange Regional Medical Center Arden Hill Campus, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 65.
Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 24, 1941. He was a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York and served in the New York City Police Department for 23 years. After retiring from the NYPD as a Sergeant of Detectives for the Crime Scene Unit, he went on to start his own private investigation and security consulting firm.
As a dedicated community leader, Frank served Goshen in many capacities, including terms as Town Supervisor, Town Councilman, and Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals. In addition, he was a long-time member of the Goshen Republican Committee, working for several years as its campaign manager. As a proud member of the Central Orange County Italian-American Association of Goshen, Frank was the organizations current president.
He is survived by his parents, Harold and Josephine Romano of Red Bank, NJ; his beloved wife of 41 years, Dorothy Romano of Goshen, NY; his children: Dina Prosser and her husband, Stephen of Seattle, WA, Carolyn Romano of Maynard, MA, Kelly Jeffers and her husband, Glenn of Delmar, NY, and Amy Byers and her husband Elisha of Brooklyn, NY; and three grandchildren: Ryan and Zachary Jeffers, and Dorothy Prosser. He is also survived by two brothers: Joseph Romano of Brandon, FL and Harold Romano of Middletown, NJ, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 19, from 7-9 pm and on Friday, July 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A mass and memorial service to celebrate Franks life will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave., Goshen.
