Obituary of Elaine D. Cullen

Elaine Cullen , a longtime resident of Goshen, New York died on Wednesday February 6, 2008 at Elant Nursing Home in Goshen after a long illness. She was 80 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 1, 1927, Elaine was the daughter of Edward J and Anna Greene Degan. She was married to Thomas JV Cullen Jr., her husband of 58 years. Elaine was a member of St John the Evangelist Church in Goshen. She was a Vice President and former member of the Board of Directors of the Stuart Dean Co, Inc., as well as the owner of Good Time Travel in Goshen. Elaine was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Goshen Hospital and Arden Hill Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Goshen and Orange County Democratic Committees, being honored in 1999 as Democrat of the Year. She was active in the Meals on Wheels program and loved to play golf and bridge. Survivors include her husband Thomas JV Cullen Jr, at home and their children; Thomas JV Cullen III and his wife Margaret Dickerson Cullen of Goshen, NY Kevin G Cullen of Goshen, NY Sean Richard Cullen of New Orleans, LA Elaine A Cullen of New Orleans, LA Patricia A Cullen of New Orleans, LA Michael L Cullen and his wife Norma Brady Cullen, of Lilburn, GA Brian C Cullen and his wife Lisa Papandrea Cullen of Herndon, VA Hillary Cullen of NY, NY Grandchildren: Mary C Hoens, Megan S Cullen, Brooke A Cullen, Jane V Cullen, Thomas JV Cullen IV, Caitlin R Cullen, Edward T Cullen, Alec W Cullen, Sarah D Cullen, Matthew N Cullen, Kieron J Cullen, Maeve M. Cullen, Patrick H. Cullen, Briana M Cullen, her sister Audrey D. Gargiulo of Goshen, NY and her brother Gerard Degan of San Mateo, CA and 43 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Edward B. Degan, Eugene B. Degan, John R. Degan, George Degan and grandson Kevin G Cullen Jr. Visitation will be Sunday February 10, 2008 at 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at The Donovan Funeral Home,82 South Church St., Goshen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday February 11, 2008 at St John the Evangelist in Goshen. Burial will follow at St Columba Cemetery in Chester, NY.
