Obituary of Jacob G. Pennings

Jacobus Jake Pennings peacefully passed away Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his current residence of Glen Arden in Goshen, NY. He was 94 years of age.
The son of John and Maria (Van Leeuwen) Pennings, Jake was born on New Years day, 1914, in Noordwykerhout, Netherlands. He was one of thirteen children. Jake first came to the United States as a representative of his familys flower bulb business. Following his marriage to Johanna in 1943, he resided in both Goshen, NY and Warwick, NY, where he became a prominent dairy farmer of the region. He had a passion to help family members here and abroad establish their own businesses. In addition to his family and farming, he loved fishing and playing cards.
Jake was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Eastern Milk Producers Association.
Jacob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Johanna, his nine children and their spouses: Marie Pennings, ,Joanne Matthews, John, Richard and Nancy, Michael, Stephanie and Terence Yungman, Christine and Steven Schuster, Stephen and Jill, and Adrianne and her husband Tom Christie, His former Daughter-in-Law Belle, Nineteen Grandchildren; Joseph, Amy, Julianna, Matthew, Geoffrey, Christopher, Jack Jr., Kristian, EJ, Jake, Mariah, Jessica, Rick, Thayne, Johanna, Hayley, Katherine, Victoria and Stephen; and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Adrian, his parents and twelve siblings.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 5-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church St., Goshen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 27, at 10:00 am at St. Stephens Church in Warwick, NY. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery, Warwick.
In lieu of flowers please donate your time to visit an elder in need of company as Jake loved to be surrounded by the care and company of his family and friends. Donations in honor of Jake could also be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or Leukemia Foundation.
