Goshen, New York
Born in April 2, 1937 in Goshen, NY..The only child of Edward J. Riverkamp and Grace Delavan Riverkamp (Gardener). She spent 66 years of her life in Goshen. She graduated from Goshen H.S.and SUNY Orange. She met her husband Steve in 1954 and was married in 1957. They enjoyed camping in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia as well as fly/drive vacations to various west coast locations.
Survivors include her husband Steve, daughter – Deborah Johnson and husband Gary of Chester, NY.. son – Jeffrey of Olathe, KS and daughter – Nancy Smith of Goshen, NY.. Also seven grandchildren – Sarah and Blayne Gibbons, Curtis, Eric and Emily Johnson, Michael and Stephen A. Coon; Brother-in-law – Rev. Edwin C. Coon & wife Betty of Mukilteo, Wash.: 3 Nieces - Carol, Merry & Janet
Carol worked as a Teacher's aid and Secretary in the Goshen School District from 1968-1981 and then as a Senior Secretary in the department of Technology and Office of Associate Dean for Curriculum from 1981-2000. After retiring from full time employment she worked at the SUNY Orange Dental Hygiene Clinic as a Receptionist. She enjoyed her interaction with the students in all of these positions.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen where she served as an ordained Deacon, a member of the Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council Board of Directors and a troop leader. She was a former member of the Wallkill Quilting Bee.
Carol always took much interest and delight in meeting new people and getting to know them and learning about their families. Her memory was very sharp throughout her life and also her amazing attention to details. She was blessed with many good friends and has kept lifetime friendships. She will be sadly missed by all of the lives she has touched.
There will be a Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian in Goshen, Goshen, NY. on Saturday
December 5, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. entombment will take place following the services in the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, Columbarium.
