EDWARD W. MCBRIDE Edward Walter McBride, a lifetime Goshen resident, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at home with his family by his side. He was 75. The son of the late Frank and Marie Strong McBride, he was born September 14, 1938, in Goshen. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Goshen. He was a 1956 graduate of St. John's High School, Goshen. He served in the United States Air Force at Clark AFB on Luzon Island in the Philippines and Bunker Hill AFB in Peru, Indiana, from 1958 to 1961. In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Anne Patricia Treanor. Together they raised four children: Kathleen McBride of Tuxedo Park, New York, Deborah McBride Heppes and husband Paul of Goshen, New York, Suzanne McBride Coates and husband Clint of Glen Allen, Virginia and Edward "Ted" McBride and wife Michele of Park City, Utah. They have five grandchildren: Emily Katherine Coates, Clare Diamond Heppes, Bryan Carlos Coates, Morgan Anne McBride and Katherine Diamond Heppes. Ed is survived by one brother, Frank McBride Jr. of Titusville, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John "Jack" McBride. Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all. He retired from Peerless-Mohawk Distributors, Albany, New York, after 18 years as one of their lead salesmen. Ed owned and operated Brother Ed's restaurant in Goshen in the 1970's. When not at work, Ed loved to golf, ski and travel. He also enjoyed the time spent with his family and many, many friends. He was a founding member of the Al Turi Golf League and a member of the Elks Club in Middletown, New York. Ed, along with some lifelong Goshen friends, played in the inaugural Goshen Little League. There were so many people that helped Ed throughout his illness. Thank you to the physicians at Sloan Kettering, Dr. John Dermigny and Dr. Thomas Eanelli. A very special thank you to Dr. Robert Dinsmore and the staff at Orange Sullivan Hospice. Your continuous support is very much appreciated by the entire McBride family. Visitation hours will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4-7 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Goshen. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Development Department, 84 Presentation Way, New Windsor, New York 12553) or Hospice of Orange Sullivan Counties (800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, New York 12550) Arrangements have been made by Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Church Street, Goshen 845-294-6422.
