Howard T. Ellefsen, 83, of Chester, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Howard was born June 13, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Ellef Ellefsen and Magna (Ring) Ellefsen. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; retired from Local 964 Carpenters Union as a Carpenter; was a member of the Sons of Norway; and a member of Local 964 Carpenters Union. When he was younger, he was a VW car enthusiast. He liked to collect baseball cards and toy cars. He had a thing for auctions and flea markets He is survived by his wife Sylvia Ellefsen at home; his children, Karen DelPrete of Harrison, NY, Kurt Ellefsen and wife Maryanne of Greentown, PA, Kenneth Ellefsen and wife Ellen of Goshen, Karl Ellefsen of Milford, PA, and Kyle Ellefsen and wife Nancy of Goshen; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grand children; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor and Irene. Visitation will be Thursday, April 17 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, April 18, 2014 in the Funeral Home, with the Reverend David Kingsley officiating. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen, NY.
