Joseph P. Vasti, 82, of Slate Hill, NY, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. Joseph was born November 19, 1931 in New York, NY, the son of Daniel and Millie (Triano) Vasti. He was the widower of Marie (Paccione) Vasti who predeceased him December 24, 2000. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of the disabled American Veterans, Goshen, NY. He retired from Engeldrums Service Station, Bronx, NY as an Auto Mechanic and was a member of the Westchester Automobile Club of America. He is survived by his children, Daniel Vasti and wife Linda of Saratoga, FL, Peter D. Vasti of Slate Hill, NY, Maria Mauro and husband Vincent of Wawayanda, NY, Ann Margaret Vasti and Frank Zara of Pearl River, NY and Lisa Rafferty and husband Patrick of Monroe, NY; 9 grandchildren, John, Daniel, Jennifer, Marc, Joseph, Vincent, Alexis, Briana, and Alissa-Marie; 1 great grandson, Tyler Joseph Sweetman; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marie and son, Joseph P. Vasti Visitation will be Saturday, May 3 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. and Sunday, May 4 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel, 90 Euclid Ave., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
