Obituary of John F. Young

John F. Young, 95, of Middletown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Castle Point VA Hospital in Beacon, NY. Born November 1, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, John was the son of the late James Young and Julia (Milner) Young of Dunmanway, Ireland. He married his beloved wife Anna on April 27, 1942 and they spent 67 wonderful years together until her passing in December 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Dec. 1942-1945 as Machinist Mate 3rd Class. John joined the NYPD in 1946 and retired in 1966 after 20 years of service. He then moved to Boca Raton Florida where he became Asst. Chief of Security at the Bacon Raton Hotel and Club for 14 years, when they moved back to NY to be with their children. John loved to fish and hunt with his son John, he was also an avid lover of history and nature. John and Anna traveled extensively to Europe and Ireland. John and Anna had a life membership in the DAV Chapter 5. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Pousson of Chester, Ellen Young of Otisville and John A. Young and wife Margarita of Port Jervis; 6 grandchildren, Cindy, Jeanine and Raymond Pousson, Jennifer, John, and Thomas Young; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. John was also predeceased by his brothers, Danny, Bob and Harry; sisters, Julia and Margie and son-in-law, Raymond Pousson. Visitation will be Saturday, November 29 from 2 to 5 P.M. at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY, with the Service at 4:30 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
