Fanny A. Velasquez, 71, of Middletown, died Monday, August 31, 2015 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York, NY. Fanny was born September 17, 1943 in Bogota, Colombia, the daughter of Avelino Romero and Candelaria (Barrera) Romero. She was the wife of Alvaro Velasquez. Fanny retired after 21 years as a seamstress from Princeton Upholstery in Middletown. Fanny was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, very thoughtful, loving, and generous; and there was no place in her heart of being unkind to anyone. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Alvaro Velasquez; daughters, Sandra Cely and husband Jose and Martha Thompson and husband Walter; grandchildren, Sandra Carolina and husband Pedro and Catalina Velasquez and husband Oscar; sisters, Cecilia Romero, Hilda Melchiori, Elsa Carretero and husband Pepe and Emilia Romero; brothers, Avelino Romero and Gabriel Romero, Rafael Romero and wife Maria; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; son Alvaro Velasquez, Jr.; sister, Alicia Romero and brother, Ernesto Romero. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, September 4, 2015 in the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Goshen, NY.
