John (Jack) Cusack Goshen, New York John (Jack) Cusack, age 70, of, Goshen, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. John was born July 11, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late John Joseph Cusack and the late Anne (Mroczkowski) Cusack. Jack was a 1956 graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School in Honesdale, PA and received his Masters in Public Administration from Marist College. Jack Cusack began his outstanding military career as a member of the 82d Airborne Division during the 1950's. He attended the Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. He subsequently joined the New York Army National Guard's 69th Infantry Regiment where he rose to the position of Operations Officer (S-3) with the rank of Major. He earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as the commander of the 42d Maintenance Battalion at the Kingsbridge Armory. In the early 80's Jack was assigned to the Camp Smith Training Site as the Operations Officer then Deputy Commander and finally Commander holding the rank of Colonel. Jack was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Knights of Columbus, Goshen Council, and Chairman of the Goshen Senior Commission which oversees the Goshen Senior Center. He is survived by his wife: Nancy (Anne) Cusack at home; children, John Cusack and wife Janet of Johnson, NY, Evelyn Cusack Landsman of Weston, CT and Stephen Cusack and wife Mary Ellen of North Attleboro, MA; grandchildren, J. Colin Cusack, Carolanne Cusack, Samuel Landsman, Benjamin Landsman, Joseph Marino, Fiona Cusack, Mary Kathleen Cusack and Maeve Cusack; sisters, Peggy Hoeft and husband Don, Joan McKenna, Jean Logan and Jane Steinert; brother-in-law, Jack McKenna; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son-in-law, Keith Landsman and brothers-in-law, Mark Logan and Al Steinert; and many loving friends. Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2009 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 9:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Goshen with Father John Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Goshen, NY. Donations may be made in Jack's name to a charity of ones choice.
