I just happened to be on the Donovan website for a friend of mine who recently passed and saw that John had passed away recently. I was a 65 graduate of Goshen HS and met John on several occasions around town. I found John to be an advocate of Irish statesmenship and since I was first generation Irish-American we seemed to hit it off. John had a great wit about him and I use to tell him he should go into politics. I remember the last time we spoke, just before he went into the service, because I also went in the Navy in 66 while I believe he joined the Army. We spoke about what Goshen would be like by the time we got out. I never saw John after that and I moved out of state and married and except visiting family each year, never really returned to the Goshen Area. In any event, he left this world too early and I want to extend my sincere condolences to his entire family. I shall keep John and his family in my prayers this weekend, as I attend Mass. May he rest in peace. Edward T. Davis of St. Louis, MO.

Rick and I are saddened by the loss of John. He was our classmate and our friend through the years. Rick played football with John in high school. He especially loved spending time with John and Humphrey We remember spending time at John's house on our first date during our junior year in high school. We have wonderful memories with John at our 50th class reunion. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to call John our friend. Our condolences to Mary Ellen and his family.

Dear Mary Ellen and Family: Jeannette and I are thinking of you and hold you in our thoughts and prayers. I have known John for nearly forty years and have enjoyed so many laughs, stories and times during "League Night". We have shared the sadness and sorrow of having mutual friends leave before us. But they are not forgotten. I recall many fond memories of John, which will never be forgotten. He possessed a great sense of humor and displayed a true friendship. He was absolutely one of the best poker players I ever met. I enjoyed his company and his honest approach to life. He will be missed by all. John may you rest in Peace, and when my time comes we will share those good times again.

I am deeply saddened at the passing of John, an old friend who I think of often. We played football together and I have never forgotten his humor which was really just an expression of his great humanity and love of life. And, I will never forget one particular tackling drill when we collided helmet to helmet both of us laying out on the grass with bells ringing thinking about how good life was. I will miss you John but am glad to have known you.

Big brothers are looked up to as role models and sometimes heroes. As kids, John was my big brother Ted's best friend so I was doubly blessed by having two heroic role models. Two great childhood memories were watching him play Little League baseball with the skills that I admired and his wonderful laugh which I can never forget. He and his whole family will be in my prayers.

Farewell, John.
We shared many good times and many good stories (some, or most, of which improved with repeated retelling almost annually at our many reunions).
You were a wonderful friend, a great husband & father, and a loyal dedicated community volunteer and public servant. As a result, you leave the world and your hometown a better place for your having been here among us.
You know we will miss you, but you wouldn't want us to grieve, so I will not mourn your passing but rather will celebrate your exuberance for enjoying life, the loving family you & Mary Ellen created, and the uncommon good luck that I was privileged to call you my friend.
