In her 93 and a half years of life, she has worn many hats. She was a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a niece, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great Grandmother and a friend to all of us. She was an extraordinary person who touched many more lives than I think she even realized. Blessed with the gift of gab, she would strike up a conversation with anyone in ear's reach without prejudice. Personally, I was always in awe of her vast wealth of knowledge. I could listen to her stories from years ago all day long. She knew a little & sometimes a lot about most subjects and could debate with the best. She was a kind hearted, genuine, intelligent, sensitive person who always greeted the world with her cheerful smile. She lived her life solely for her family, the Syracuse Orangemen, the Boston Red Socks, all cats or I should say "furpieces" as she called them & her beloved St. Anthony. Her pride in her Italian heritage was unmatched & I will surely miss the Italian sayings she would incorporate into our conversations. The cherished memories of my childhood will live on forever in my heart. Being picked up from school in her orange Gremlin, spending the afternoon "working" with her in the liquor store to watching the pink panther enjoying a payday candy bar at her house. Priceless moments in time.
We have never been the huggy kissy mushy type of family but never once questioned her deep love for us, we just knew. She was an amazing person and I can only pray to someday be half of the woman she was. Rest in Peace Rosie13, my Nannie, you had a blessed life. You & Poppie can finally spend eternity together. Please watch over & guide us until we meet again. I love you and thank you for the lifetime of memories you've left with me.

Rose and I met when she and I both lived in Woodland Park, CO. I was a teller in the local bank and she and her husband Nick were customers. There was rather an instant "connection" between us and both of us, her by Nick and me by my boss, would "get in trouble" for talking too much......everyone who knew her KNOWS how she can Talk! I started her off reading Mauve Binchy books, lending her my mother's copy of Evening Class, and it went on until we completed her books. I'd be walking my dog around town and she and Nick would pull over the car to talk a minute After Nick died, Rose and I would go out to lunch. A "sore" point for her was that I had cats that would never come out for her, or anyone else for that matter.....she so enjoyed cats. I moved to Reno, NV and she went back to her family in Goshen and we still kept in touch, more by cards than by phone.....she couldn't hear me very well, but I could listen!
I don't know at what point I started calling her Rosie, but she always told me, "I don't know why I love you, but I do" and we've been friends over the years. Rose, Rosie, is one of the most treasured people I've ever known. Her heart was as big as the Universe, and her love of the Pikes Peak area of Colorado boundless. When I go back to Woodland Park and visit, I will always feel her presence. She will always be in my heart. God Bless you Rosie, Safe Journeys!
