To All those touched by Mrs Kennett,
She came to me in a dream last night. Her school was huge and now had singers as well. Full production in progress. Jewels, feather and ever Shetland Ponies in Black Leather costumes. This is not the first time that Mrs Kennett and I have been together in my dreams. Just know she is still with us. Thank you, Mrs Kennett for everything you gave us. Once was Mark Rabbit - Prince Charming.
All the best,

I am sorry for the late entry as I just learned the loss of this amazing woman ... my deepest condolences to the family. Mrs Kennett taught me to dance and I have spent my own life being a studio owner. For years I would pop in on my visits back to NY and she was always gracious and full of guidance. I have fond memories of her singing “here comes Susie snowflake “ to me in class♥️ . All my love Mrs Kennett and thank you for the gift of dance . Save me a place at the Barre ... Love your Suzie snowflake

Dear Lee, Freddie, Markie,
I’m heartbroken to hear this after seeing Lee back in April after her fall. Yll were her pride and joy her boys.
She was a remarkable woman who I adored starting ballet in the small room off the kitchen and then facial Saunas in the kitchen. Fond memories of your mom.
She can finally be with her love...your dad..
Such a persons light doesn’t dim after they depart, it burns on for eternity into the darkness of night...
Love,

Marya Kennett seems to live forever in the joy and lessons passed on in edition to those of dance, I always think of elegance when I think of her. I remember her smile, too. She also lives on in our hearts and our dancing.
To her family and friends: I encourage you to feel as though she is still with you, for somehow, I believe she is. I am sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear Marya has passed away. We moved here from Rockland County in 1982 and shortly after enrolled the two boys in gymnastics,
Later, as our family grew, we added four daughters that took both gymnastics and ballet. We met many families through the studio that have gone on to become friends. The children learned wonderful skills and grace through the Kennett programs - and the Nutcracker shows! We have many fond memories, thanks to Marya and your family. Marya left her mark and you should be proud!

What a beautiful woman, what a wonderful life and what gifts she gave to so many! My brother, sister and I all took lessons from Mrs. Kennett at the Moffat Library in Washingtonville - - I still remember changing on the stage and dancing in that beautiful open hall! I was not a good ballet student, but I loved the tap and I loved the ballroom dancing she also taught!! Best of all, My mother Clara Gerow [who became a Johnson after my father passed] was her piano accompanist for years on what is now the Goshen Middle School - - - oh the memories!! To know Mrs. Kennett was to love her - she will always have a special place in my heart and to the family: you were blessed to have her so long and my sincerest condolences for your loss! It breaks my heart to learn of the passing of Mrs. Kennett.
To her family my deepest condolences.
Mrs. Kennett was the kindest person I knew. Mr. Kennett and Mrs. Kennett opened their home to me and allowed me to live with their family while I was being taught ballet by her.
Through her teaching, she gave me a professional life in this art form.
My appreciation goes farther than that. Her teaching passed forward a sense of ethics, beauty, and love which I eventually passed on to my students.
It is the saddest of days.
Again to her children, Lee, Freddie, and Mark thank you. Your mom was the best.

Our dear and beloved "Mrs. Kennett", may she rest in peace. The stories we'd hear about her through her students in more recent years were so very precious. Even teaching in her 90's, she was a source of inspiration and awe for her students. She was so warm, quirky and kind to them, with a sense of humor uniquely hers (whether she may have realized it or not!).
What a role model. What a legacy.
Thank you, Mrs. Kennett!!

I am so very sorry to hear of Marya's passing - she was such a huge part of my sister Cindy's and my life. For years, my pictures performing as Gretel were on her wall (thanks to my dad the photographer), as well as many other photos we shared with the studio. We were with her way back in the North Street days. We remember sadly attending services for her husband many, many years ago. She was so gracious and kind; if there is such a thing as a perfect human being, it is Mrs. Kennett. What a wonderful and giving life! Your obituary perfectly captures Marya. I have missed her these many, many years away from Middletown and will continue to fondly remember her impact on so, so many lives. Best wishes, Jennifer (Jorgensen) Dempsey

Every time I saw her she was still my "teacher" and I was still her "student"...I loved her with my whole heart and am saddened to know she is no more on this earth but rejoice knowing she is giving instructions in heaven as on earth. To the Kennett Family,
As a former student and one she helped to train for the “Mr. Wright’s Musicals” I will hold a special part of my heart for Mrs. Kennett... to this day when certain songs play i can remember the steps she taught me to go with the music. We had a great Jazz class too and it was always fun to go and learn. She was a special lady and I am sure she is dancing through the heavens and helping those who showed up with ‘two left feet”
God Bless her and may she Rest In Peace. Hugs...Wendy Musgrave Paffenroth

To the Family of Mrs. Kennett,
It is with sorrow we learn of the passing of Mrs. Marya Kennett.
She was a favorite customer of ours back when we owned the Red Rooster Antiques Center in Montgomery.
When she entered the front door always "dressed to the nines", she would exclaim "Paul, any good blue for me today ?" She loved American Primitive antiques especially having old blue paint on the wood.
I remember great conversations with her, especially of her past and early days in dance.
We would talk about her dealings with Maxfield Parrish, and of my parents as headliners in jazz dance in upper Manhattan in the 1930s.
She is a treasure, and her imprint on many.
Sincerely,
Paul & Mary Kearney
