I just found out about this today, as I live in South Carolina. My deepest, sincere sympathy to the family. Mary was a patient of mine, and we would discuss our children when I would see her. We lost our son in April the same way, he was 24. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

So very sorry for your loss. I served with Curtis ( I knew him as Stephens) in Germany and Afghanistan. Tha Soldiers of Able company lived and worked in the same building for years, we grew to know each other very well. We all got on each other's nerves at times but we were a sort of family. Through the years I knew Stephens I never heard a negative comment about him. He was always positive even when times were miserable, he always had a cheesy joke ready and he would give anyone the shirt from his back before they even asked. Very sorry for your loss he was one in a million.

I sit here still stunned at the loss of such a sweet young man. His smile speaks for his heart. I am so sorry for your loss as no parent should ever lose a child. May God's Angels give you the strength to smile through the memories. God bless.

I met Curtis when i went to visit my then fiancé in Germany . I only knew him for about a week that I was there but I remember he was such a sweet and friendly guy with a great big smile. He was so kind, he had a car there , and would let my husband borrow it to go to the store and other places instead of having to walk. He didn’t have to do that, but he did and didn’t mind at all. My husband Grant who served with him also sends his condolences. When he heard the news he said “Wow. I always expect to unfortunately hear of the passing of my army buddies but not not Stevens, he was a good kid. “. Though we didn’t know him as his friends and family did, he still touched our lives in a way with his smile and kindness. Our hearts pour out to his family and girlfriend and friends as we both cannot even imagine the pain you are all going through . Praying for and thinking of you all.
