Lawrence J. Bracken, Sr., 85, of Montgomery, died Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY He was born July 15, 1932 in Congers, NY, the son of Thomas and Dorothy (Griffin) Bracken. He was the widower of Martha Horton. He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1961. He was a Truck Driver for Local # 338 and a Dairy Farmer. Larry was a 50 year member, past Chief and Commissioner of the Otterkill Engine Company No. 1, a member of the Church of the Assumption, Montgomery for over 70 years and a member of the American Legion Post 1181. He is survived by his children, Lawrence Bracken, Jr. and wife April; Patricia Bracken-Borchert and Lynda Bracken; brother, James Bracken and wife Alice; grandchildren, Ernest J. Borchert, Elizabeth Bracken, Lawrence Bracken III, Kleo Bracken and Aubree Bracken Visitation will be Sunday, July 8 from 4 to 7 PM with a service held by the Otterkill Engine company No. 1 at 6:30PM at Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Church of the Assumption, Homestead Ave., Maybrook, NY with Father Dan officiating. Burial will be in Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Otterkill Engine Company No. 1 Campbell Hall NY or Holy Name Of Mary-Assumption Parish Maybrook NY.
