Obituary of Harry Rego Swanson

Harry Rego Swanson, 91, of Goshen, New York entered into rest on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Belle Reve in Milford, PA. Harry was born November 30, 1927 in Palmer, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Adrian Swennson Swanson (Karlson Engman) and Signe Alice Nygard. Although Harry was born in the USA, he moved back to Finland with his mom and brothers after his dad tragically passed away in 1932. Harry grew up in Finland until he came back to the USA when he was just 19 and settled in New York. Harry started his career as a contractor and eventually changed to a builder of homes. He took pride in his work and built many homes over the years until his retirement in the 1980s. In 2015, Harry was predeceased by his wife, Berit Akerman Swanson, whom he married on December 9, 1961. Also, he was predeceased by brothers, Edmund as an infant, Carl from Massachusetts and George from Nanuet, New York and sister, Carita from Finland. Survivors include three sons: Ronald and his wife Donna, Todd and his wife Kathie and Carl and companion Kelly; six grandchildren, Sarah and husband Brian, Emily, Katelyn, Todd "TJ", Nicolas, Nolan and step-grandson Thomas Slinn and wife Kristin (sons Kelly and Jackson); three great grandsons, Hunter, Mason and Brody Lasch. He is also survived by two brothers, Elvin and Alf (Finland) and several nephews and cousins in Finland and USA. Harry will be missed and remembered for endless devotion to his family. There will be no visitation. A graveside service at Hamptonburgh Cemetery, Campbell Hall, NY will be private. Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen, NY.
