Sherman G. Memmelaar, 74, of Goshen, died Sunday, October 13, 2019 at home. He was born October 4, 1945 in Hawthorne, NJ, the son of John and Claire (Dale) Memmelaar. He was a strong caring man who always had time for his grandchildren's lacrosse games, soccer games and football games. He was always willing to lend a hand to others and his love for his community was boundless. He loved building things and working in his yard. Sherman is survived by his wife Sandra Memmelaar; daughter Robyn Jowell, husband Kevin and son Dylan; son Chris, wife Krista and children Anthony and Julia; daughter Suzanne Williams, husband Adrian and their children Jack, Addison, and Alec; Brothers Fred and Herman; sister-in-laws Bernedette, Carolyn, Karen and "brother" Dick Holmberg. He was predeceased by brothers Jack, Bernie, Al, Dale, Martin, and Caddy Memmelaar; sister Mildred Henry; sisters-in-law Betty Memmelaar, Peg Memmelaar, Sally Memmelaar; niece Joy Memmelaar, and nephews Al Memmelaar, Chuck Memmelaar and David Memmelaar. Visitation will be Saturday, October 19 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Goodwill Church, 2135 State Route 208, Montgomery, NY, with the Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery, Montgomery, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Chordoma Foundation at https://impact.chordomafoundation.org/give/126704/#!/donation/checkout.
