Mary Ann "Duffy" Murphy Cummings, 88, of Middletown, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Duffy was born in Yonkers, New York on April 30, 1931 to her parents James and Philomena (Grippo) Murphy. After graduating from Commerce High School in Yonkers, she married the love of her life, Robert Cummings, and the two embarked on one of the greatest love stories ever told for over 67 years until his passing in 2017. An accomplished florist and chef as well as an award-winning artist and painter, Duffy was a devout Christian that read the Bible daily while praying for her family, friends and even strangers. She loved to dance, play bridge and be in the sunshine. A devoted fan of the NY Yankees and Giants, she rarely missed a game on her television (usually with the volume at 100). However, there was nothing she loved more than gathering together with her huge family and being the center of the party. ? Duffy is survived by her 6 devoted and adoring children Robert Cummings Jr. (Cecelia); Mary Ann McIntee (Robert); Phyllis Mentz (William); Kathy McDowell (James); Kimberly Plotkin (Alex); and Richard Cummings (Celeste). Additionally, she will be forever missed by grandchildren that worshiped the ground she walked on: Peter, William, Mary Kate, Katherine, Lindsey, Teresa, Stephen, Elizabeth, Jenna, Victoria, Eric, Morgan, Taylor, Emma, Caitlyn and Meghan. Duffy was also blessed with the love of 12 amazing great grandchildren that she cherished. She is further survived by her brother James Murphy of Johns Creek, GA and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, December 20 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Donovan Funeral Home, 82 South Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 21 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow as she will reunite with her husband, Robert, at the Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, 111 Craigsville Rd, Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.»(Do not delete this line. It does not print. Text that is to appear on web must be entered before this line)
