Obituary of Rose Rappa

Rose Rappa, 84, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, January 28, 2021. Rose was born February 4, 1936 in New York, NY. She is the daughter of the late Michael and the late Phyllis (DeLeo) DiPenta. She was married to Benedetto Rappa.
Rose Rappa devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was an inspiration to all who knew her. Rose grew up in New York City, the second of eleven children, where she developed a strong will to persevere and live a full life. A fierce protector of her family, and an inspiration, she worked tirelessly to provide them every opportunity in life. A friend to many, over the years she enjoyed working in a variety of occupations and seized upon every opportunity to meet new people from different walks of life and learn about the world.
She is survived by her children: Vincent Rappa and wife Jane of Chester, NY, Michael Rappa and wife Lynda of Raleigh, NC, Joseph Rappa of Pine Bush, NY, and Joanne Rittendale and husband, Louis of Goshen, NY; Brothers: Salvatore DiPenta, Joseph DiPenta, Vincent DiPenta and Michael DiPenta; sisters: Angela D'Angelo, Yolanda Graziosa and Michele Marino; six grandchildren: Stephanie, Vanessa, Emily, Joseph, Jr., Christina and Louis, Jr.; eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandson Nicholas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 9 to 10 AM at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., 82 South Church Street, Goshen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, February 4, at St. John The Evangelist RC Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen, NY. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Rose's name to the Lung Cancer Association, American Lung Association Donation Processing Center PO Box 11039 Lewiston, ME 04243-9409.
