Obituary of Scott D. Sumner

Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott David Sumner, 55, of Goshen, NY passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth, and is survived by his siblings June Moran (Darren), Thomas, James (Jenny), Karen Brandt (Stephen), and a sextet of nieces and nephews, Robert, Michelle, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, and Peter. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who knew him. Born in New York City on May 8, 1966, Scott grew up in both Paterson, NJ and Warwick, NY. In all, Scott was a resident of Orange County for over 35 years living in both Chester, NY and Goshen, NY working for PDJ Components and area businesses in various capacities. Known for his quiet demeanor, good nature, and gentle spirit, Scott enjoyed seeing his family during the Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays where he would feast on home-cooked meals. He was particularly fond of racing and motorsports, especially NASCAR, and kept a collection of racing and other sports-related memorabilia. Never one to ask for assistance or accept a handout from others, Scott was hard-working and self-reliant. Flowers are gratefully declined, however a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name is appreciated. Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 S. Church St., Goshen, NY between 5PM - 7PM. A Memorial Mass will be held the following day at St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson, NJ at 9AM. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Cathedral Basilica of St Augustine in St. Augustine, FL at 9AM.
