John L. Stein (Jack) Goshen, New York John L. Stein, 85, of Goshen died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Orange Regional Medical Center-Arden Hill Campus in Goshen, NY. Jack was born December 24, 1924 in Long Island City, NY, the son of the late Ignatius L. and the late Agnes (Harvey) Stein. He was the widower of Mary Hamill Stein. Jack was a U.S. Navy Lieutenant during World War II. He was a retired New York State Trooper, Life member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097, Life member and Past Commander of the Goshen VFW Post 1708, member of the Retired Officers Association, Washington, D.C., Sec. Treasurer of Tri State Chapter, former member of New York State Troopers Association and member of St. Columba R.C. Church, Chester, NY. Jack is survived by his brother, William Stein and wife Carroll of New City, NY; sister, Mary Grace Martinelli of Vero Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Peter Hamill and wife Jane of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, January 28 at 11:30 am at St. Columba R. C. Church, 27 High St, Chester, NY. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
