Obituary of Robert G. Ellert
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert G. Ellert, of Goshen, passed away, Monday, December 20, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Goshen, to Robert A. and Elizabeth (Munhall) Ellert, he resided in Goshen all his life. A Veteran of the US Air Force, he worked for the County Welfare Dept., Dept. of Motor Vehicles and the Village of Goshen.
A gentle soul who loved all animals we always said he should have had a farm. He enjoyed gardening, growing his plants from seeds and then sharing the plants and crops with many. Cooking was another favorite of his and he could be found watching the food channel for new recipes. Very artistic he did paintings and wood carvings, he belonged to "The Mid-Hudson Woodcarvers Guild." He never let a Christmas go past without carving a Santa for his sister-in-law, Linda.
He is survived by his brother, Bill and his wife Linda, his Aunt Pat O'Malley and her husband Joe, numerous cousins and his beloved dog Karma.
Our "Thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Anthony's Hospital, Westchester Medical, Park Manor Rehab and Garnet Hospital Hospice and all Roberts and our friends for their care and concern."
Per Robert's request there will be no visitation. A Graveside Service and Military Honors will be held at St. John's Cemetery on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11 am.
If you wish a donation may be made to a Humane Society of your choice. All of Robert's dogs came from the Humane Society; he felt they deserved a chance at a good home.
Robert was our "Rock" and was always there for us. We will never forget and will miss him dearly.
