Because of his outgoing, warm, and compassionate nature, everyone who met Howie fondly remembered him. Howie was very proud of his service in the United States Army and wore his Veteran's cap up until his last day. When Howie was no longer able to work, he enjoyed many years giving back as a volunteer at Helen Hayes Hospital in Haverstraw, NY offering a warm smile and a reassuring voice to those coming in for rehab or visiting ill family members. The most important thing in Howie's life was his family. He loved the family vacations on Cape Cod with four generations spending time together, family dinners and parties, especially Christmas when he played Santa.
