Obituary of James Jeffrey Wilcox

James Jeffrey Wilcox, son of Joseph and Margaret "Mardette" Wilcox, passed away on October 20, 2022. He was born on November 5, 1949 in Goshen, New York. Raised in Campbell Hall, he was a Class of 1967 graduate of Goshen High School, later attending Orange County Community College in Middletown and Rider College in NJ.
In 1977 he married Wendy Wilson, and they had four children, Justin (Melissa), Mardette, Joseph (Katie), and Rebekha, as well as Wendy's sons, Robert "Bobby" Jr. and Michael Vogt. Jim had a huge love for music and was a drummer beyond compare, playing in bands at venues in Orange and Sullivan counties. He had a special gift for writing and was caretaker for many local properties. Jim is survived by his wife Wendy Wilcox, their children and spouses, grandchildren Nathan and Morgan Wilcox, Logan and Nora Wilcox, and Walter Henry IV, his brother Joseph "Chip" Wilcox and his wife Judie, his sister Jane and her husband Arthur Groves, his nieces and nephews Sarah, Bess (Elliott Beard), and Andrew Jankowski, and Elliott (Destiny) and Ethan (Rasmiyyah) Wilcox, as well as his cousins Jay McClung (Elaine), Betty McClung, and Barbara McClung Hornberger (Bruce). He was pre-deceased by his parents, grandfather Elliott McClung, stepson Bobby Vogt Jr., and his Aunt Kay and Uncle Jim McClung. May "Grandpa with the Handsome Hair" rest in peace.
A celebration of Jim's life will take place at a future date at The First Presbyterian Church of Hamptonburgh, 2815 State Route 207, Campbell Hall, followed by burial at Hamptonburgh Cemetery on Sarah Wells Trail.
