Doug was so great about certifying our therapy dogs and encouraging us to do the therapy dog visits. He loved the K9 Bandaiders which he was a part of starting and was so proud of the organization. RIP our friend Doug. I'm sure you will be teaching all the dogs at the Golden Bridge to heel again and do therapy work.

I will always remember Doug smiling and laughing with a grinning golden retriever by his side. Doug was a huge positive impact on my life. I met Doug and Karen at Goldstock only to learn we lived near each other in the Hudson Valley. I immediately joined their training club where I learned a lot, met wonderful people who are friends to this day and discovered a whole new and rewarding hobby of therapy dog work. Doug was a kind person and a wonderful teacher and mentor. If you think about all the good work he did and the many people he coached into therapy dog work and the joy they all then brought out into a tough world, you realize just how impactful his life was. I, for one, am so grateful to have known him. Rest in peace, my dear friend. Give all our dogs at the Rainbow Bridge a snuggle! I bet you had quite the greeting upon arrival!

I met Doug many years ago when we both worked for the Town of Wallkill. If I remember correctly, he stepped in after his father as security. Years later we met again because of dogs - his love and mine. Knowing Karen and Doug all these years has been my pleasure and in this time of departure I hold true the memories of both.

The world lost a good man last night. Doug Coulter has been a friend for about 40 years; I met him
when I was on the board of directors of the Humane Society of Monroe and he and his wife trained dogs for us in conjunction with our staff to make them more adoptable.
In 1992, I joined his dog training classes and the group of us under his leadership started going therapy dog visits before much was known about it in our area. We formed the K-Nine Bandaiders pet therapy group which is still in existence today and through his testing/observing, many folks were certified and have gone on to do pet therapy for all of these years. He also helped me to become certified as a tester/observer and since I relocated, I helped start another pet therapy group and continue to certify dog teams so Doug’s legacy continues on.
