I feel like I "grew up" on George Street because my grandparents lived there. I always looked at the O'Brien family as "my family". I was very saddened to hear of Danny's death. (I guess now he is "Dan"!)
Many wonderful memories come to mind and I pray that your memories will be somewhat of a comfort to all of you.
Cheryl and Mrs. O'Brien, you will be in my prayers in a very special way. We have a Prayer Tree at my Church and I will add all of you to it for strength in the coming days, months and years.
I have found out from experience that loved ones never leave us and always hold an important place in our hearts.
My love and prayers to all of you,
Donna Silva

My heart is filled with sorrow for Cheryl, the children and grandchild, Dan's mother, sisters and brothers and so many others that were fortunate enough to have known Dano. We worked at Meldisco in the 1980's and, although I was older and more experienced than Dan, he taught me so much about living a good life and the importance of family. The only things that I taught him were Yiddish expressions that he was able to use later in his business career. I was very blessed to have Dan as a friend even after our years of working closely together ended, and I know that he enjoyed our occasional dinners with our mutual friend and mentor Edd Dresher. We laughed a lot recollecting our experiences at Meldisco when we both were younger and learning about the important things in life. Please know that Dan was the epitome of a warm, kind, and caring human being and a role model for all of us. I can only say that he was the kind of man that I would want my daughter to marry (but only if he were single and a bit younger).

I worked with Dan a long time ago at Texwipe. Subsequently, we (the group from Purchasing at Texwipe) would gather for a pleasant evening dinner to catch up on each other's lives. Dan was a very congenial and jovial person and we enjoyed his company thoroughly. It's very sad to hear of his passing. We shall miss himand remember him always.

Dear O'Brien family,
Last year Dan added my company to his printing vendor list. I never immediately liked someone as mush as I liked Dan. He had a sense of wit that put me at ease.He would quiz me about Star Wars,so last year I had a Darth Vader mug made for him. He was touched. He was a kind of person you would want to make the extra effort for.My husband and I are around the same age as Dan, and we have 3 sons as well.I as so sad.
I pray that God has some awesome plan for Dan, because he deserves it.

Having worked with Dan O almost 20 years ago at Texwipe and staying in touch through the 'Texwipe Underground,' we managed to develop a mutual respect to each other's sense of humor. We enjoyed the laughter and the venting of our work lives. Dan O taught me not to take it seriously even though he did. So sorry to hear of his passing and may he rest in peace.

I am so happy to remember Dan as a proud dad, especially the day Nick broke the PB pole vaulting record. He came over our home to pick up Kevin after the track meet was over and Dan was elated, in fact, we commented that he seemed to be on "cloud 9." Dan was so thrilled for his son's success. His happiness was contagious. I invited him to join us for dinner and he told us that he was too excited to eat. He planned on toasting Nick's big day with some champagne. It was a great moment that I will treasure forever.

Dan was one of the brightest lights at Novartis. He was passionate about his work, his colleagues, his family and his Harley! His laughter was as reliable as the information he provided to anyone who had a question. I am thankful that I knew him, even though it was for a short while. My thoughts are prayers go out to his family. May God help them through this time.

Dan and I were co-workers, but more than that we became friends. Dan will sorely be missed. We had a commonality (we both rode "Harley's"). We spoke several times a day or e-mailed several times a day, and I have a voice mail message that Dan left me on 12/6/10 that I have saved in my archive and will revisit on a constant basis just to hear his voice. He made me laugh. I worked with Dan on and off on many different projects for the past 10 or so years and most recently we worked very close over the past 2 years. May God give you all the strength and comfort to get thru these trying times. My heart goes out to each of you and you all will continue to be in my prayers. Kerry

I feel such a privalage to have known Dan for over 20 years. His kind hearted ways and his incredible work ethic were ones no one could match. From our Nice-Pak days I had such fond memories. So many practical jokes - I still laugh thinking abou them. We kept in touch after he moved on to Tex Wipe and Novartis. He talked so proudly of his family. Anyone who got to know Dan was truly fortunate. He was true gem and we will miss him very much. Cheryl and familiy, I wish you strength as the healing of his loss begins. Hopefully you will find comfort in knowing he touched so many people's lives in such a postive way and we are very grateful for that gift.

Dan was a hard-working irreplaceable resource for so many people. He was serious about his job and doing it well but also had a wicked sense of humor. Every once in awhile I would drive my husband's Mini Cooper to work, instead of parking in his usual space, Dan would park next to me so the Mini's could keep each other company in the parking lot!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends too many to mention and I hope the thoughts and memories we all have of Dan will sustain us all in the years to come. May God Bless and Keep you!
