Carmen LaGrutta,86, of Campbell Hall, NY entered into rest Monday, December 27, 2010 at home. Carmen was born April 8, 1924 in New York, NY, the daughter of Gennaro and Marianna (DiIorio) Cuomo. She was the widow of Dominic James LaGrutta. Carmen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was devoted to God, her family and to her extended family and friends making everyone she met feel genuinely loved. All who knew her were inspired by her spirit and personality. She possessed the gifts of charm and humor and was loved by all. Carmen was dedicated to volunteer work which centered around her love of God, Church and her community. As a Eucharistic Minister she brought the gift of the Holy Eucharist to the homebound, residents at Elant, Campbell Hall Health Care and Valley View. She also volunteered at the Hamptonburgh Reading Center, Hamptonburgh Voting Booth, St. John's Bingo and home delivered meals. Mom was the heart of our family; she was the proud hostess of countless gatherings that were made memorable thanks to her cooking, generosity, and hospitality. She had the unique ability to speak her mind honestly, and frankly, always bringing laughter to others. She was a woman of many interests, including reading and baseball especially her dear Mets. Above all, her love for her family was limitless and unconditional. She was the light of our lives, and that light will live on in our hearts and memories. She is survived by her children, Anthony LaGrutta and his wife Maria of Yardley, PA, Reverend George LaGrutta of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Port Jervis, NY, Christine McLean and her husband George of Owego, NY, Thomas LaGrutta and wife Jeanette of Campbell Hall, Ann Carpentieri of Campbell Hall, Theresa Einterz and husband Robert of Campbell Hall; sisters, Christine Cuomo of Goshen and Gertrude Gallotello and husband Pete of Conn; sisters-in-law, Catherine Cuomo of Fairfax, VA and Angela Tabone of Brooklyn; brother-in-law, John LaGrutta and wife Lucille of New City, NY; grandchildren, Sara Guccia and husband Joseph of Endicott, NY, Daniel McLean and wife Julie of Mass., Michael McLean of Queens, NY, Mathew McLean of Binghampton, NY, John McLean of Owego, NY, Michael Carpentieri of Campbell Hall, Anthony Carpentieri of New Rochelle, NY, Joseph Carpentieri of Campbell Hall, NY, James LaGrutta of Campbell Hall, Robert LaGrutta of Campbell Hall; great grandchildren, Dominic, Olivia and Stella Guccia of Endicott, NY and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dominic James LaGrutta, brother, Samuel Cuomo and son-in-law, Alan Carpentieri. Visitation will be Thursday, December 30 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc, 82 South Church Street, Goshen, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 31 at 9:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 71 Murray Ave, Goshen,, NY. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carmen's name to the St. John's Chapel Fund, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924 Arrangements under the care of the Donovan Funeral Home, Inc., Goshen, NY.
